Building a tech career is usually not easy for beginners like myself and some other people who are also still trying to find their way around the tech world. But having a road map can make it easy thereby helping you to narrow down your choice on whether to be a developer or an non developer techie.
EVALUATION
Evaluating where you are at the moment in your career can help you do better in your new found career. There are many yardstick to which one can use in order to aid one's transition into Tech.
Knowing the stage you are at the moment : like am still a newbie or an intermediate or even at the advance stage of my career.
Who am I ? : which is so important cos if one doesn't know who they are, they can't be able to be who they want to be .
What motivates me ? : Things that make me want to be a better version of myself.
- What am I good at ?: Knowing where my strength lies and following it up to do better.
Without one answering this question before starting out a new career whether Tech or any other career, it can lead to one not knowing actually what they want to achieve at the long run.
STRENGTH AND SKILLS
Knowing what one is good at is also very important. Also understanding the skill one is good at whether soft skills or hard skills is very important so one can know which to improve at and what more to learn inorder to be outstanding in the chosen path.
TRANSITIONING INTO TECH
Even if you get to enjoy that you are providing answers to people's problems, transitioning into Tech can be really exhausting. There are a few tips for transitioning, including discovering your interests, taking course, trying out a new projects, joining a community of like minds, finding a mentor, and figuring out my transferrable talents or skills.
STANDING OUT AND GETTING MYSELF NOTICED
There are things I can to get myself noticed which includes but not limited to:
Having a great working ethics.
Being proactive.
Working Hard.
Being Diligent.
Having an attitude of a leader.
Being Original.
Marking my successes.
Being on time.
Being visible.
Dressing and acting a level higher than my current role.
Showing up.
Share my work and learnings online.
